The book I will write about today was a “big thing” back in 2022. Award-winning, beststeller, on everyone’s TBR lists.

I believe this book deserves attention no matter how much time passes by since then:

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” is about two friends, Sam and Sadie, who have a long history together. What unites them, among other things, is their love for video games. At one point in their lives, they create a video game company together and design a bestselling video game, “Ichigo”. They both become big names in video gaming industry.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” is full of early day video game references from the 80s and 90s. I am sure that those who grew up with those references will appreciate this book even more.

My own video game affection does not really go past “The Sims”, “Animal Crossing” and “Stardew Valley”. So, while I found some parts of the story on building video games captivating, it’s not what ultimately drew me to this book.

For me, this is a book about complexity of relationships. It explores the nature of a lifelong friendship beautifully:

Being each other’s closest people.

Falling out (multiple times in the course of a lifetime).

Reconnecting.

Having irreconcilable differences but still deeply appreciating each other.

I rarely cannot put a book down, and “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” was such a book. I just could not stop reading.

Here is an interesting thing, though: it will not make it to the list of my favorite books of my lifetime. I will not say it is the best book ever.

But still, it is a beautifully written, captivating read — and this is a good enough reason to give this charming book a try.

You might know that I don’t post book reviews without a beer recommendations. Books and beers, this is what I do.

Beer of the day will be an Icelandic Sæmundur Mango Pale Ale enjoyed in a hot tub on a camping site in the North of Iceland (just north off Akureyri) 💙🇮🇸 How amazing is that!

I write book reviews, pair them with my favorite beers, and reflect on what the future brings.
